Taxes:
The IRS now allows e filing for prior years through registered tax preparers. The limit is up to 2 previous tax years if you expect to receive a refund. SBCC provides prior year e filing for up to 2 previous tax years for individuals. This means if you haven't filed your taxes for the previous years now is the chance to catch up electronically.
Did you get the maximum refund allowed on a prior year return? Were there errors or omissions on a prior year return that still needs changed? SBCC can help. Generally, to claim a refund, you must file Form 1040X within 3 years after the date you filed your original return or within 2 years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later. Returns filed before the due date (without regard to extensions) are considered filed on the due date (irs.gov).
Accounting:
Xero is now an added option for accounting and bookkeeping software. Xero is a competitor of QuickBooks Online with similar offerings. Both offer real time data for accountants, tax preparers, and in house accounting staff such as separate login for each, and full cycle accounting. The accounting programs can sync up with numerous external services such as checking, savings, and credit cards. Other accounting programs options offered include: Freshbooks, Wave Accounting, Microsoft Dynamics, and Sage (formerly Peachtree, and Sage Masterbuilder).
